MLK Speech Analyzation

Thesis: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. exceptionally used antithesis, effective diction, and repetition to convey his speech to people. MLK respectively used the rhetorical device antithesis to convey his speech by stating "I have a dream that my four little children  will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character " (page 5 para 1). MLK stated this because during the civil rights movement, white children had access to bigger and better education, while black children barely had an education or none at all. This antithesis was effective because it shined a light on situations where black children didn't have the same opportunities as white children did. Not only were black children treated differently , but also their parents. In 1965, the voting rights act was signed into law by president Lyndon B. Johnson. He aimed to overcome legal barriers that prevented blacks from voting as guaranteed in the...

My Vocabulary Paragraph

inciting- to encourage or stir up zany- amusingly unconventional and idiosyncratic incongruous- not in harmony of keeping up with the surroundings of other aspects of something lofty- of imposing height gratuitous- uncalled for; lacking good reason; unwarranted  septuagenarian- a person who is from 70 to 79 years old jeering- making rude and mocking remarks, typically in a loud voice witty- showing or characterized by quick and inventive verbal humor strive- make great efforts to achieve truism- statement that is obviously true When I entered the lofty glass building, I certainly felt the urge to incite in Mr. Jackson's meeting. The meeting was filled with rich men, sitting at a huge round table discussing God knows what. Mr. Jackson was a strict man who didn't take any crap from no one who worked in his building. Except for me. I knew all sorts of tricks to get Mr. Jackson wrapped around my finger. I would often talk his head off, by asking him about a gratuitous...

The American Dream

The American dream gives people the opportunity to be free and have rights in America. Outside of America, other countries does not have as many rights as people do in America. In America people have rights to freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom of petition. The freedom of religion is guaranteed in the first amendment because it gives Americans freedom to practice any religion of their choice. Many people across the world would have the pleasure of living the American dream so they’ll have the chance to express themselves without judgment.

Being Trapped inside my mind

Being trapped inside my mind,   I often wonder what’s it like to be free.   My thoughts are shaped like bullets,   And sometimes like blades,    But they are never put to use   During the disquieting escapade.   Being trapped inside my mind,    I often sneak outside its wall,   but I swiftly run back,   as I hear my mind requesting its call.   Being trapped inside my mind,   I am often not alone.   As I peered into the mirror,   There was a reflection   Of a dejected clone.   Being trapped inside my mind,   Is never a pleasure, be that as it may,   But is often a scandalous puzzle   That is far too much for me to say.
One very important thing I learned in first semester was to take notes on information that is only beneficial to you because taking notes will help you analyze any source that is put in front of you. One thing that I can improve on is being able to work within the time limit I’m given. Lastly, something I would like to learn is how to properly use big words I don’t understand and put them into any future essays I’m going to be writing in AP Language.  -2019
