Testing my Skills!

Today in AP Lit, we were given a test on poems. The poems were a little complexed, but that didn’t stop me from pushing my self in bettering my skills on analyzing poems. This past week in AP Lit, I’ve become very fond of analyzing poems and being able to understand them. Thanks to Mr. Rease and his awesome teaching skills, I hope to become better and better on analyzing complex poems.

”Because I could not escape Death” Poem

Today in AP Lit, I presented my analysis of the poem “Because I could not escape Death” with my group. My group was very detailed about this poem because it made us think very hard, to find the deeper meaning behind the title. Analyzing this poem often made me second guess myself, but also how to be more open-minded about other people’s thoughts and ideas. Overall, I enjoyed the experience of presenting a complex poem with my group of six. It made me learn a little more about teamwork.

Analyzing poems with a group 8/28/2019

Today in class, we were put into groups to analyze a poem. This task was some what difficult because 5 different people have many different ideas, which forced the whole group to decide what was right and what was wrong. Overall, analyzing the poem brought me one step closer to me becoming and expert on analyzing poem all together.

Today's reflection on analyzing "I Felt a Funeral in my Brain"

Analyzing this poem was very complex, but I was determined to challenge myself and analyze it. I came to a consensus that the poem was about a man\woman who seemed to have rekindled dark memories in he\she's mind that they thought were put to rest, like a corpse at a "funeral". The speaker had problems dealing with the old memories, that he\she felt their brain going numb. The students in my AP Lit class seemed to very engaged in analyzing this poem. I look forward to increasing my skills on analyzing complex poems, instead of running away from them.
